Brutally ugly gear will stay ugly

“As with Enchanting, Jewelcrafting is a useful profession for every class to have. Every class uses rings, necklaces and trinkets, and prior to the end-game, the accessories Jewelcrafters can make are generally superior to anything available as a drop at the same level The rings and necklaces this profession makes are really nice as you level, statistically far better than almost anything available any other way. The unique benefit of Jewelcrafting while leveling, however, is the early access to very useful trinkets. Without Jewelcrafting or Engineering, you’ll be waiting for something to fill that trinket slot until you hit level 40 or so, and whatever it is, it won’t really be useful. Here are the highlights: To put it simply, this trinket is awesome for the level. The mana regen is wonderful, and the stats are unique for the level in a trinket-slot item. For perspective, it should be pointed out that the only comparable option at this level is the Rune of Perfection, which is only available if you’ve been doing a lot of Warsong Gulch, and the next available trinket that’s specifically valuable to a Mage is the Fire Ruby from the level 50 Mage quest. There are other trinkets available in-between, but they aren’t anywhere near as useful for a Mage… So why take a profession that makes things you can’t equip. There’s a single, very specific reason. In high-end raiding guilds, when statistical min-maxing becomes the order of the day, and you need every advantage you can possibly get to down Illidan, your profession choice becomes less about what gear it can offer (and if you’ve progressed through high-end raid content, your gear likely outstrips anything you would have taken those other crafting professions for), and more about what statistical advantage it can give you. Many high-end raiders take Enchanting for this reason, due to the enchanter-only enchants it offers, and to a lesser extent, they sometimes take Jewelcrafting for the Bind-on-Pickup gems.

They also frequently take Leatherworking, and depending on your guild, it may even be a requirement to participate in certain raids. Why. Well, for these beauties, of course These have 50 charges each time you make one, and work on a 2 minute cooldown. wow gold They last for 30 seconds, and stack with other haste buffs, like Bloodlust. If almost everybody in the raid or party has these, the effect can be kept up for the duration of the fight. This is fantastic for everyone, from caster to melee, and gives the group a very distinct advantage in the encounter. buying wow gold This profession serves a single, very specific and situational purpose. If you need the Drums of Battle, take the profession. If you don’t, don’t. ” “unless you’re talking about this one. serveur wow If the cooldown were shorter, I’d say it’s almost preferable to the Fire Ruby itself. 100 spell damage is whopping at the level, and again, the stats are extremely rare for a trinket anywhere near the level. This is a very nice ring, and you’ll likely be making them anyway to level your Jewelcrafting through this stage. The mana regen is superb, and Mages always enjoy a little intellect. Will this profession have an associated gathering profession, or will one be attached to the profession itself, similar to Disenchant. guild wars gold Will it have a recipe for every ability of every class (very unlikely), or will it only have inscriptions for certain commonly used spells (likely). Will there be certain spells that are only usable by the Inscriptor (is it okay if I pretend that’s a word. ) on his own abilities, as a reward for taking up the profession (probably). cheapest wow gold Will there be any created items involved in the class, as with every other profession, like a trinket or device.

Brutally ugly gear will stay ugly

May 6th, 2008

“Now we get to the fun part. Why discuss things you already know about when you can spout wild, uninformed theories about things you have no knowledge of whatsoever. Hey, if it works for Fox News, it’ll work for me, right. So what do we know about this profession, coming to us in Wrath of the Lich King, whenever that may arrive. Not a lot. We know it’ll be similar to Enchanting, but will affect our spells and abilities instead of our gear. We know that one inscription in particular, called Demonic Runes, made its way into the 2.4 patch files, so we have a small idea of what we’re in for. Inscription will allow us to augment our existing spells and abilities with changes to things like cooldowns, damage, crit chance, or actual spell mechanics. How many other ways do you have to heal yourself. No, besides those ensorcelled cinnamon rolls you just summoned from god knows where. Don’t you have enough down-time as it is, what with all the drinking. If you PvP at all, you need bandages, especially in Arena. Train up this profession, and never leave home without a stack of Heavy Netherweave Bandages. You’ll be happy you did the next time you freeze somebody in place, Blink behind a pillar and need a quick way to heal yourself. From what we know, Inscription will create physical items that give the actual enchants, like scrolls, which can then be traded or sold. Even if your Mage doesn’t take this profession, he/she will still be able to take advantage of most of the benefits, it seems. buy cheap wow gold Considering that every other profession saves its very best and most unique creations for those who have taken up the actual profession itself, I shudder to think what Inscription might offer.

Actually, I don’t shudder at all, unless it’s with joy. I love to think about this stuff. eq2 platinum Here’s what I see happening: ” “There are three reasons I can think of to level this profession. Firstly, it helps you to level Cooking. Secondly, it allows you to catch your own fish to make those fantastic end-game recipes. wowgold And thirdly, you can do those incredibly lucrative fishing daily quests. I know it takes forever to level Fishing. I know it’s boring. wow gold cheap I usually level it without looking at the screen while watching sports or keeping an eye on the kids or something. I just turn up the volume and click whenever the splash sound happens. It works I know what you may be thinking: “”I know how to cook already: I click this button in my spellbook, and poof, a pile of magical croissants manifest themselves before me.”" Many Mages neglect this profession because they can create their own food. wow powerlevel Here’s why you shouldn’t: buffs! You can’t get those from any otherworldly donuts that I’m aware of. Here are a few examples: If gear isn’t your biggest concern, Alchemy is a great choice for Mages, as with every other class. Being able to stock your own potions and keep extra buffs constantly up is invaluable.RELATED LINKS:

“It’s hard to overstate the value of being able to make your own potions. Alchemy is truly a utility profession, of great worth to every class without exception. As an alchemical Mage, you will bring added value to every instance and raid by being able to provide potions and elixirs, you will have the incalculable financial self-sufficiency that comes with being able to perform your own transmutes and create your own mana potions, and you will have access to a very nice end-game Mage trinket. As a leveling Mage, wouldn’t you love to always have a stack of mana potions around to use, without having to hit the auction house. It goes without saying that none of the wonderful buff-potions made by Alchemy are BoP, but it’s incredibly nice to be able to make your own on the fly, and not have to rely on others to make them and sell them to you. Here’s a sampling of what you’ll be able to enjoy as you burn or freeze your way to level 70. This effect persists through death and lasts for 2 hours, so your party members and raid-mates will love you for handing these and other flasks out. Presumably, this drops from the trash in Sunwell Plateau. As far as I know, it hasn’t been sighted on the live realms yet, but ooh baby. The design is not BoP, but the necklace is. Mage Jewelcrafters in high-end raiding guilds. Here, this is for you. Enjoy. This is purchased from the Shattered Sun Offensive reputation vendor, and requires revered reputation with that same faction. Then it is created as soon as the very rare and expensive mats can be obtained, equipped at the speed of light, and used with pride every time the cooldown is up, sometimes while laughing gleefully. It’s hard not to recommend Jewelcrafting, no matter the class.

This profession has unique benefits for every kind of player out there, and Mages are no exception. Excellent while leveling, and full of win at end-game, you really can’t go wrong with Jewelcrafting.” “Plus, registering for the Blizzard store comes with another perk. wow geld You can register for the Beta Test lottery, which is a chance at being chosen for upcoming beta phases of various games. Wrath. Starcraft II perhaps. lord of the rings online gold All of the above. Who knows! I’ve been considering getting into the WoW TCG, so if I get a shot at a beta test out of it, too… hey, why not. sell wow gold Drysc updated his post on the official forums regarding Season Four Arena changes. It looks like Blizzard is working to put an end to queue dodging and thereby stifle the practice of win trading. Drysc quoted the revised arena rules, “”If a team does not enter an arena match that is starting they will lose points equal to the amount that would have been deducted if they had played and lost.”" With this augmentation, players will no longer be able selectively battle only teams that have agreed to a loss. Since the Arenas began, there have been many underhanded methods players have used to inflate their ratings and gain access to the latest and greatest gear. wowgold Blizzard continues to intervene in order to fix the flawed system. Season four will include a few more changes to make things fair: If Children’s Week receives the same treatment in Wrath, I’m itching to see what the rewards will be, or who(what. ) we’ll be escorting. runescape money The rewards in TBC were based off of the new content, so I have my doubts we’ll have any accurate guesses for Wrath’s installment at this point, but wrong guesses are still fun to make.

May 6th, 2008

“These changes have been implemented to make point and team selling practices less lucrative. With these changes combined with personal rating requirements, it seems the developers really are interested in making people earn their keep as PvPers. Yesterday, I profiled a number-crunching addon that does the math to tell you about the actual effects of your abilities and spells. Therefore, I thought it appropriate to share this number-crunching macro. This is one I’ve only recently had to use. After a few hours debating the meaning and theory behind becoming uncrushable and uncrittable, I think this macro is a great tool for raid leaders and tanks alike. Basically this macro adds up your total avoidance to determine whether or not you meet the sacred uncrushable numeral: 102.4% total avoidance. Regardless of any arguments about the mechanics behind this system, its what is accepted as the way things are. Blizzard nerfs WoW boar Growl skill in Patch 2.4.2

April 29th, 2008

“Having a tank who can aggro all day and deal considerable damage would be very, very useful in World of Warcraft. Unfortunately, the days of super-powered boars are over for hunter players, as Blizzard has nerfed boar pets by changing the Growl skill in Patch 2.4.2 PTR. In a nutshell, Blizzard adjusted the skill so that Growl may no longer be cast right after the Charge skill. Furthermore, it no longer gains extra amounts of threat from the attack power buff. The result is a marked decrease in the effectiveness of the boar as a tank. All is not lost, however. It appears that Growl will still work - but more as an overall buff instead. The trick is for the WoW hunter to maintain a constant and a high stream of damage (higher than 1200) and things should be fine. Check out this WoW video to see what we mean. Blizzard not planning on turning ‘Counting Out Time’ into a standard repeatable quest As a point of reference, avid World of Warcraft players should note that certain anomalies in the game aren’t exactly bugs. Sometimes, they just happen to be outdated portions of the world that haven’t been updated to reflect the additions brought about by the growth of the game. One case in point happens to be the “”Counting Out Time”" quest given by Chromie out in the Western Plaguelands. As it happens, the Counting Out Time quest is a repeatable one, yet it doesn’t end up being referenced as a repeatable “”blue”" quest in-game. Instead, the game treats it as a regular “”yellow”" quest… that you can do over and over again. Hortus recently replied to one such query regarding Chromie’s quest, saying that it isn’t a bug. Hortus explains, This is not a bug, Chromie’s quest was implemented before the current repeatable quest mechanics were introduced so it does not follow the standard rules for repeatable quests.

or wow As the quest is working correctly we would rather not go back and introduce any changes to it. On a lighter note, since the game lore essentially states that you’re dealing with time distortions in this quest, you can also say that you’re just caught in a temporal loop. Of course, you could also just skip the quest entirely and head on over to Outland for more quests, but that’s up to you. ” “A blue post in Blizzard’s official World of Warcraft forums is probably a common occurrence for some. For others, like player Pangoria, it is an example of grace. guild wars gold The paradox is that Pangoria has noted an improvement on the shaman discussion forum from lack of blue poster communication. In other words, the various WoW shaman players have been helping each other out in the absence of blue posts. The shaman is the least played class in World of Warcraft, Pangoria said, and perhaps the current trend of support will eventually change that. As if on cue, Blizzard blue poster Nethaera answered a forum members query regarding possible class changes and shaman buffs in Wrath of the Lich King: I answered some things in the other thread here on what the current focuses with classes are which in short are bug fixes and any changes the Development Team feel are necessary at this time. Major changes are not being worked on prior to Wrath of the Lich King, but additional changes and adjustments are still possibilities (along with fixes). lineage 2 adena Again, though, there is no guarantee of further changes until Wrath and it’s unlikely there will be much more. That is still within the discretion of the Development Team, however. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html. gold wow topicId=6136614357&sid=1&pageNo=17#335 All in all, it’s nice to know that amidst the trolling on Blizzard’s forums, there are still valid, informative and edifying posts out there. ” ” Although World of Warcraft’s Wrath of the Lich King is yet to see an official release date, sometimes we’re lucky enough to find some tidbits here and there to know what to expect.

This latest reveal comes from Gen Con 2007. These pictures taken during the convention reveal three separate quests in Wrath of the Lich King. The quests are “”If Valgarde Falls,”" “”Rescuing the Rescuers,”" and “”Prisoners of Wyrmskull.”" You can click on the images below for their descriptions. One of the pictures also reveal the new item called Frostweave Cloth, which is speculated to be the next level of cloth after Netherweave once the expansion arrives. Why weren’t there more class changes in 2.4.2. wow or When Patch 2.4.2 was introduced in World of Warcraft, a lot of class changes and bug fixes took effect. However, some gamers still feel that these changes weren’t enough, and that their classes still needed a lot more tweaking. Blizzard poster Nethaera recently explained why there weren’t a lot more class changes than there were in Patch 2.4.2.RELATED LINKS:

Breakfast Topic: Do we need a third faction?

April 29th, 2008

“One of the things I love about this job is that your comments are full of ideas for future posts. LIke, say, this one! Inspired by this comment, I come to you this morning with the thought: does World of Warcraft need a third faction. Perhaps one with absolutely no common ground, dedicated wholly to the destruction of both the Horde and the Alliance. Commenter Finn suggests that he would like to see an expansion that let you play as part of the Burning Legion, and this got me to thinking: for all the people who think Warcraft is insufficiently warlike these days, with shades of grey in morality and no clear cut ‘good’ or ‘evil’ faction, would the addition of a faction that is purely nihilistic, cunning and willing to wipe out all life in the universe help push conflict back to the front lines. Personally, I go out and kill Alliance and/or Horde all the time, depending on my mood, so I’m not seeing a lack of war, but some people seem to dislike the ’status quo’ fragile truce between the Horde and the Alliance. Would you guys be interested in rolling Burning Legion. Would it mess the game up too much to have three factions that constantly did war with each other. Would Alterac Valley, WSG, Arathi Basin and EoTS be unplayable if you had to deal with a third team out to kill the other two teams, and killable by both of them as well. Would anyone want a 2×2x2 arena bracket. One thing’s for sure: if the Legion became playable, you’d know you were playing the bad guys. I doubt this would every happen… way too much work to fit it into the established framework. But you may feel differently. So I ask again: would a third playable faction be win or fail.

Do you want to see unabashed, unrestrained evil as a playable choice. or wow Memzer said… Could definitely be interesting; mind you it would be more interesting for them to design lore founded content where it is advantageous for all parties involved to destroy {Popular Lore Figure Here} without falling on the usual ‘boss wants to destroy the multiverse’ style plots. ” “How did the Seal of the Damned get all the way from Naxxramas to Booty Bay. Enhancement:

April 29th, 2008

“The spec for people who want to hit somebody. Enhancement sacrifices the real power of the shaman’s healing and lightning bolt throwing abilities in order to link their shocks to attack power and get up close to introduce people to the fury of the elements. Enhancement also does just that, it enhances the damage potential for a group of melee DPS, making it a viable endgame spec not necessarily for its own damage output (which can be considerable all on its own) but for what it can help others to achieve. The heart and soul of enhancement DPS is the Windfury Weapon imbue and Windfury Totem. You will never meet a warrior or rogue who want you to drop Grace of Air unless it’s on a boss fight where every single bit of extra mitigation counts: the DPS burst potential of a windfury proc far exceeds the DPS gained by the extra crit of the agility on GoA. While the other weapon imbues and totems have situational use… you may want Frostbrand for slowing a target or on an offhand, but the main imbue you will use is windfury. As a result, you personally won’t get much benefit from dropping the WF totem, but as you level you’ll find your melee craving it, and in a raiding situation a single enhancement shaman will often be placed into a melee DPS group consisting of rogues, warriors and even paladins who want the proc for their melee weapons. Sadly, feral druids get no benefit from WF at this time. Stormstrike allows a shaman to do a damaging instant attack. If you are dual wielding (as most enhancement shamans will, as they can maximize their damage in this fashion, and also because they are the only spec of shamans who can dual wield by selecting the proper talent) then Stormstrike will hit with both weapons in addition to debuffing the target to take additional damage from nature based attacks like Earth Shock.

Because of the mechanic of both Stormstrike and windfury procs, slower weapons often benefit enhancement shamans and their DPS, as explained in this Elitist Jerks forum post I will keep pointing people to until the end of time. As an enhancement shaman you should keep your eye on the Improved Weapon Totems talent, as it will greatly enhance your ability to enhance your fellow players. Did I use the word enhance enough there. ” “Welcome to DPS country. Elemental shamans have a nice place here. If you enjoy the idea of being the only caster DPS who can equip mail and wear a shield (giving them some of the highest survivability of any ranged DPS outside of hunters, and the widest range of equipable gear possible for a ranged caster) the only real down side for an elemental shaman is that they can’t equip swords, which means they’re unable to equip some of the best caster gear. wow po But they can use daggers, maces, staves, shields, off-hands, mail, leather and cloth, so they have good options for the proper gear. The Elitist Jerks’ One Stop Elemental Shop posts have been moved to the Theorycrafting Think Tank and still need updating, but they’re worth looking at (as the writer is far, far superior in understanding of elemental as a spec than I am) for an idea of how the class works. At lower levels, you’re basically casting Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning until mobs run up to hit you, in which case you will either Frost Shock to get back out to caster range or will use a fast weapon with Flametongue and will use a combination of melee and shocks to kill them. Once you start running instances and raiding, you will hopefully no longer have to kite and melee very much, reverting to a standard caster approach of throwing lightning bolts and chain lightning as the cooldown allows - don’t use chain lightning in the middle of a group of CC if you don’t want to make people cry and cause angry murlocs to swarm you.

wow Or whatever it is that’s CC’d, it just always seems to be murlocs somehow. Not that I’ve experienced this. There are a great many elemental shaman talents to consider (this column covers the spec in more detail) but the standouts in my mind have always been Elemental Fury, Elemental Precision, Elemental Mastery, and Lightning Overload. You’ll probably get Totem of Wrath unless you’re going for a PvP build, so you might as well drop it. guild wars gold It’s certainly not a bad talent but it lacks the oomph you’d expect for a 41 point, talent tree capping ability. It will synergize well with Wrath of Air and Mana Spring. Most elemental shamans seem to use the restoration tree for their offspec talents, especially for the spell hit of Nature’s Guidance. It won’t matter much while you’re leveling, but once you hit 70 start looking for spell haste gear: elemental shaman DPS rotations seem to make heavy use of it in the theorycrafting I’ve seen. gold für wow kaufen Experienced elemental shamans, please address this in the comments. I really have to get my ele shammy leveled up. There you go, a general overview of the three specs for the beginning shaman to ponder. Which appeals to you. wow gold The shaman class has a lot of variety to suit almost any playstyle, now it’s up to you to find the one you like the most. “RELATED LINKS:

Group buffs as solo buffs and when to use them

April 29th, 2008

“Rufus over on WoW LJ brings up Commanding Shout, the Warrior group buff that increases maximum health of party members for two minutes within 20 yards, and comments that it doesn’t work so well in solo play. Which isn’t necessarily true– there are cases when you need as much health as you can get. And he got me thinking about other buffs like that — buffs that are really meant for group play, but that can sometimes help in solo play. The first one that jumped to my Shaman mind is the Mana Spring Totem — it’s really meant for group play, but every once in a while I’ll pull too many, need some extra mana, and drop that to pick up a little blue. Also in the Shaman’s Resto tree is Earth Shield, which can be helpful in solo play, too. And while Power Word: Shield is really too mana intensive to regularly be used in solo play (it’s really meant to be used in groups), there are lots of times when it’s helpful with solo priests. Usually, you should only use these things when absolutely necessary (and when you’ve got the resources to use them — Commanding Shout, for example, doesn’t actually give you any health, so using it in the middle of a fight doesn’t help). But Blizzard has made sure we don’t just have group buffs and solo buffs — some group buffs are occasionally really useful in solo play. Can you think of any others. Dakira said… Crusader Aura for the Paladin is perfect for Solo and Group play… I usually switch up aura’s between Crusader (for moving), retribution (a little extra damage/threat) and Concentration (when I just gotta heal). The Blessing aren’t so helpful in Solo play… i usually find myself forgetting to use them, but they are essential in group situations.

Every Paladin should have PallyPower! ” “Once you reach level 62 and learn Steady Shot, it’s time to start getting a firm grip on this thing hunters must learn called “”shot rotation.”" If you don’t - just casting your shots willy-nilly, as soon as they come off of cooldown — you’ll end up wasting a lot more mana and doing a lot less damage than a hunter who has his or her shot rotations timed right. The video embedded above is a handy example of two basic shot rotations which we’ll look at in more depth here, and it can give you a basic sense for how the timing of all this is supposed to work. But if it still looks a bit confusing, fear not: today’s Scattered Shots will help you to make your shots less scattered and more organized, with helpful charts and fundamental knowledge about how to do this rotation thing. It really ain’t that hard — just a bit of info can get you pointed in the right direction, determining the rotation which is best for you. Timing Behold: The Inevitable March of Time. This baby is that irrepressible force moving the entire universe forward through the 4th dimension, bending a little around planets and stars, and getting totally warped out around black holes: As far as you’re concerned though, situated here in Earth’s stable gravity, this is the immovable line you have to follow faithfully - all your shots need to be sorted up nicely along this line for maximum efficiency and maximum boom. Next, meet Auto Shot. Don’t look down on this one just because he doesn’t have a fancy casting bar in the default interface. wow geld This is your source of mana-free damage, coming to you at regular intervals depending on the ultimate speed of your weapon. Once you get him going, he keeps on marching and doesn’t stop till you tell him to, or until your target is dead. Hopefully by now you’ve had a look at some of the important hunter addons out there, and you’ve got your hands on Quartz.

You’ll need that (or something like it) in order to see a waiting bar between Auto Shots. wow gold I call it a “”waiting bar”" instead of a “”casting bar”" because it only shows you the between Auto Shots, not the actual time it takes to cast them. The actual Auto Shot casting time is a tricky thing. lotro gold Suppose your weapon speed is 2.8 seconds — as long as you string your Auto Shots together without any interruption, Auto Shot will go off promptly every time, because the 0.5 second casting time fits in right at the tail end of your waiting time; it starts 2.3 seconds after your previous Auto Shot in this case. wow powerleveling This casting time is hard to understand because of this way it is hidden there without any graphical representation (even including addons), but it may be helpful to think of your weapon speed minus 0.5 seconds as your Auto Shot cooldown, and then the last 0.5 seconds as its casting time: during those 0.5 seconds you must be standing still, casting nothing, or else the next Auto Shot won’t go off. wow gold verkaufen 0.5 seconds doesn’t sound like much, but if you don’t respect it, the delays it causes can add up over time and reduce your damage. Finally, we come to your special shots, most often used in healthy shot rotations: Steady Shot, Arcane Shot, and Multi Shot. “RELATED LINKS:
